Inspecting Your Pool to Get Ready for Summer and Repair Any Issues

Posted on

Are you ready to open your pool for the summer months? If you do a quick inspection of your pool, you can see any issues early to not grow worse and require repairs over the summer. Here is a step-by-step guide on what to inspect on your own pool in preparation for the summer season.

Make Sure Pool Equipment Is Working

First, make sure all your pool equipment is working properly. If you are not familiar with how everything works when it comes to your pool, be sure to read the owner's manuals that came with the equipment.

Make sure all your filters and pumps are working. Check all hoses to ensure no leaks and clean out all skimmer baskets. Clean out clogged pipes and backwash filters if needed.

If you have automatic equipment, check it for any issues and make sure it is working properly before using it in your pool.

Find and Repair Any Pool Leaks

One of the important steps in pool inspection is identifying any leaks. You want to check to make sure that the pool has not developed any leaks over the winter months. Leaks can develop around plumbing, equipment, and liners that have leaks.

If there are any leaks that have been found during a pool inspection, you are going to want to have them repaired. Repair issues with leaking liners, plumbing, and other problems to ensure they do not lead to worse problems after you open your pool.

Replace Broken Equipment

When inspecting your pool, there might also be broken equipment that needs to be repaired. Sometimes, this equipment might be broken and outdated and need to be replaced. Replace anything that cannot be repaired. This is a good time to upgrade equipment to improve your pool.

Inspect Filter

The filter of your pool will also need to be inspected to ensure it is working properly. You want to check the filter to make sure water is flowing through it, and it does not have any leaks. The filter medium might also need to be changed, and you are probably going to need to use it throughout the process of opening your pool.

Check Water and Chemical Balance

You will also need to check the water and chemical balance in your pool. This is when you will begin treating the water with chemicals like chlorine to kill off any bacteria or other organisms. You might want to talk with a pool service about installing a chlorine dispenser and other water treatment equipment like a UV water treatment system.

Inspect All Pool Safety Features

The most important step in inspecting your pool is making sure all the safety features are working. You want to make sure the drain and skimmer covers are intact and properly locked in place to prevent accents. If you have a pool safety cover that you use all year, it needs to be inspected before you open your pool for the summer months.

A healthy, safe pool is a must this summer, so make sure you take these steps now to avoid problems when you open your pool to the family this summer. Contact a pool inspection service to get the professional help you need dealing with these issues.
